Oklahoma Counties Declared Drought Disaster Areas


The US Department of Agriculture has declared all but 3 of Oklahoma's 77 counties a “disaster area” due to wildfires and drought. Residents are now able to apply for federal farm loans and emergency government assistance. As the entire Southwest United States seems more and more like the Sahara, the drought is affecting more than local farmers and victims of fire. Local homeowners are in danger of drought damage as well.

Oklahoma homes exposed to the intense dry heat, risk foundation cracks and shifts as the supporting soil dries and recedes.
